Vanguard Properties and golfing great Sergio García promote sport in Comporta

Top professional golfer and sporting legend Sergio García recently paid a visit to the Dunas Golf Course, which is part of the "Terras da Comporta" project developed by Vanguard Properties. During his visit, he found time to give an exclusive lesson to five young stars of Portuguese golf between the ages of eight and 12.

During their time together, the youngsters witnessed, first-hand, the talent of the Spaniard, who gave each of them a practical lesson, as well as answering their questions.

The Dunas Golf Course is currently in soft-opening and is already causing a stir among the international golf community, having been nominated for several high-profile international awards.

Alongside compatriot José María Olazábal, Sergio García was chosen by Vanguard Properties to design the Torre Golf Course, which is located in Alcácer do Sal and part of the "Terras da Comporta" project. During his visit to "Torre", the international golfer got to see the development of this unit, which is scheduled to open in 2025.

"Torre" will also be home to Portugal’s first major golf academy, which will bear the hallmark of these two great Masters champions. It is being developed to become a golfing benchmark, both domestically and in Europe, and to provide a unique experience for golfers of all levels.

Born in Spain, in 1980, Sergio García is considered one of the finest professionals in the history of golf. Nicknamed "El Ninõ" for his precocious talent, he has achieved great things in the sport, such as winning the Augusta Masters in 2017 and various tournament on the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, Asian Tour and other international competitions. With over 450 weeks in the world top-10, and a former PGA Tour number two, he is also the player with the most points accumulated in the Ryder Cup representing Europe (10 appearances).

Sport in Comporta 

In addition to the event featuring Sergio García, there was also a presentation of various models and drawings depicting the "Torre" and "Dunas" sports centres, which will make "Terras da Comporta" a hotspot for a wide range of activities (around 30). With this initiative, Vanguard Properties aims to create an environment of excellence, while encouraging talent in various sporting areas.
