Launch of the book “Nós, Comporta” evokes the collective memory of the region and pays tribute to the local community

Work brings together testimonies and traditions from Comporta in an initiative promoted by Vanguard Properties

On May 6, Comporta hosted the launch of the book “Nós, Comporta” (We, Comporta), a publication that brings together stories, memories and traditions from the region, with the aim of preserving the intangible heritage of the local community. The event took place at the Comporta School Center and was attended by residents, guests and representatives of public and private entities.

Promoted by Vanguard Properties, the ceremony began with an informal reception, followed by the official presentation of the book in a conversation between José Cardoso Botelho, CEO of the real estate developer, and the book's author, Leonor Vaz Pinto. A documentary screened during the event gave voice to some of the local protagonists, in an intimate portrait of life in Comporta over the last few decades.

“Nós, Comporta” (We, Comporta) is the result of collecting and valuing the personal stories that mark the identity of the region. According to José Cardoso Botelho, "this is a gesture of gratitude, but also a look to the future - an inspiration for the generations that continue to write Comporta's history. Comporta is much more than a tourist destination: it is a land of people and stories that deserve to be recognized and valued."

The book aims to recover oral traditions, ways of life and cultural elements of Comporta, reinforcing the importance of collective memory as a structuring element of local identity. With this publication, Vanguard Properties is also taking an active role in the cultural and social dynamization of the region where it develops some of its main projects.

The session ended with the participants being given copies of the book, in a symbolic gesture of sharing a common memory. "Nós, Comporta" will be available in local libraries and institutions, reinforcing its community and accessible nature.
